 Legal Thriller/Mystery Suspense

When an explosion at a synthetic fertilizer manufacturing plant kills six workers, the cause is clear. What follows is the story of how the truth can easily be manipulated and distorted by an unethical lawyer who is more interested in making himself even wealthier than he is in uncovering the truth and holding the guilty parties accountable. Opposing him are three lawyers intent on uncovering the truth at any cost. As each side works to outmaneuver the other, the stakes get higher, the potential costs deadlier, and the truth buried deeper.

Author David D. Williams has crafted a novel that explores the basic good vs. evil motif. It’s far more nuanced than that, though, and takes a good, hard look at not only unethical lawyers and companies whose bottom line is more important than the lives of the people who work for them, but also the doubts and fallibilities of those intent on exposing the truth. Williams accomplishes this without demonizing all lawyers and all companies and without the saccharine one-dimensionality of the honest and decent men and women striving to find out the truth. The characters are well fleshed out and even those whose morals are questionable at best have their human moments of doubt and fear exposed. The storyline is easy to figure out well before the end is reached which might mildly disappoint some readers, but overall it doesn’t detract much from how the conclusion is reached. There is plenty to keep the reader guessing and surprised. The novel’s pace is also consistent and moves quickly; even the more technical explanations about law and fertilizer manufacture are crafted with just enough information to educate the reader without bogging down the narrative.

Despite the predictable storyline, GAMESMANSHIP is a top-notch, entertaining and well-delivered novel.

Entertaining read with intricate story line written by someone who has been there. If you are a Lee Child or James Patterson fan, you will love this book. It is the Jack Reacher or Alex Cross thriller set in the world of legal intrigue. Will recommend the book to all my friends!

The unwritten rules of the game are perfectly laid out by the author yet unclear to the players involved adding to the tension as the finish line approached. The author takes you into the lives and motivation of the characters in such a way that you are sure you know them personally. The ending was so moving that I had a hard time holding on to my Kindle and kleenex at the same time.

David's fast-moving novel is the perfect blend of legal thriller and Sherlock Holmes. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down, and even when I wasn't reading, I was thinking about the wonderfully developed characters, wondering each one's next move would be. A great, fun read.

David Williams tells a great story. This is a masterpiece thriller that I couldn't put down. It has a morality play befitting a Shakespearean play. His creativity is marvelous in letting the reader peek around every corner without revealing the surprise. Buy it. Read it. Tell a friend.

This novel kept me guessing where it was going. I have worked in the legal industry an entire lifetime and this is as real as it gets. Usually all the intrigue is in a criminal case, but civil cases have just as much drama and suspense. This is not the last you will hear from this new writer.
